BOOM! Studios will release a hardcover edition of the classic 1970s Marvel Comics’ Terror on the Planet of the Apes in August.

The Planet of the Apes Archive Vol. 1  will include the complete Marvel series, collected for the first time and remastered in this 400-page hardcover. The story, which follows two friends, a man and an ape, on the run from the law, is written by Doug Moench (Batman), with art by Mike Ploog (Ghost Rider), Tom Sutton (Doctor Strange), and Herb Trimpe (Incredible Hulk). The foreword is written by Rich Handley, author of Timeline of the Planet of the Apes and Lexicon of the Planet of the Apes.

War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter in 20th Century Fox’s modern take on the franchise, is due in theaters on July 14 (see “First 'War for the Planet of the Apes' Trailer”).  BOOM!
