WizKids announced the still-unnamed fifth game in the Dungeons & Dragons Adventure System Board Game series last month (see “WizKids Teases New ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Board Game”).  While details are still scarce, including the sets theme and title, a few new tidbits have been revealed.

The new game will introduce a number of new mechanics to the series.  There will be a new race for players to choose, as well as an all-new playable character class, the Bard.  A new “spell deck system” is also being added to the game, to increase the variability of monster and villain abilities, as have new rules for stunning heroes.

WizKids will be offering two versions of the game.  The Standard Edition will only include miniatures molded in a single color.  The Premium Edition will have everything from the Standard Edition, but will feature fully painted miniatures.  MSRP for the Standard Edition will be $79.99.  The Premium Edition will be MSRP $159.99.

WizKids is warning interested retailers that the Premium Edition must be pre-ordered to avoid allocation.
