The greatest sleuth is back in action in The Thames Murder & Other Cases, the latest stand-alone boxed set for Space Cowboys’ Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective series.  Asmodee will release the new set in the U.S. during the third quarter.

Like the earlier games in the series, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective:  The Thames Murder & Other Cases offers a series of mysteries set in the gaslight era of late Nineteenth Century London.  As new members in Sherlock’s “Baker Street Irregulars,” the players must work together to solve the mysteries as quickly as possible, gathering clues from the newspaper reproductions included in the box or from interviews with witnesses.  Once they have solved the case, they compare their notes with the great detective himself, who will rate them on their speed and accuracy.

The ten cases in The Thames Murder & Other Cases are the same mysteries in the Ystari version of the game, in turn based on the original 1981 version of the game (and 1985 Spiel des Jahres winner), but fully revised and featuring new translations of the text.  During the revision, the contents and solutions of some of those cases have been changed.

The game includes 10 casebooks, 10 newspaper reproductions, a poster map of Victorian London, and a London Directory booklet.  It is intended for 1 to 8 players, ages 13 and up, and takes between 1 and 2 hours to play each case.  MSRP is $49.99.

Last year, Asmodee released a version of the game inspired by the murders of Jack the Ripper, entitled Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective:  Jack the Ripper & West End Adventures (see “Sherlock Holmes Hunts Jack the Ripper”).
