Warner Bros. Animation has released a trailer for the next "direct-to-video" DC Comics original animated feature, Batman and Harley Quinn: A Bruce Timm Original, which is due out this summer.  It appears that though the film may contain an epic cat fight between Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, the tone will be more humorous (and about fifty shades lighter) than recent Batman animated offerings such as the controversial adaptation of The Killing Joke (see “DVD Round-Up: The Killing Joke”).

Entertainment Weekly posted the full length, two-minute trailer for Batman and Harley Quinn, which reveals a plot in which Batman and Nightwing attempt to thwart a plot by Poison Ivy to turn every living thing into a plant, and Batman has to team-up with his former nemesis Harley Quinn in order to avoid a verdant apocalypse.

Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman in Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series, will provide the Dark Knight’s vocals, while Loren Lester will dub Nightwing, and Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory, lends her distinctive voice to Harley Quinn.

The Batman and Harley Quinn animated film will be released later this summer (probably right around Comic-Con).
