Warner Bros. has set Conrad Vernon to develop an animated feature based on the vintage Hanna Barbera cartoon series The Jetsons, Variety is reporting.

Vernon, who co-directed Sausage Party, Shrek 2, and Monsters vs. Aliens, also has “an eye to direct” this feature. The project has had a number of fits and starts over the last decade, with the last news being Matt Lieberman adapting the property in 2015 (see “Warner Bros. Prepping New 'Jetsons' Animated Feature”). Prior to that a live action version was in the works (see “Rodriguez to Helm Live Action 'Jetsons?'”).

Last year Warner Bros. announced plans for an interconnected Hanna-Barbera movie universe, but that plan was not mentioned in this announcement (see “Warner Bros. Plans Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe”).
