Mage: The Hero Denied, the long-awaited conclusion to Wagner’s epic Arthurian fantasy trilogy, will launch with issue #0 on July 12 at a special price of $1.99. Mage: The Hero Denied #1 will be in stores on August 16.
Drawn and written by Wagner, the trilogy launched in 1984 with Mage: The Hero Discovered. The second part, Mage: The Hero Defined, started running in 1997. Each part is made up of 15 issues and focuses on Kevin Matchstick, a modern day reluctant hero and reincarnation of King Arthur who wields Excalibur in the form of a magic baseball bat. Image revealed the continuation of the trilogy in March, during Emerald City Comic Con (see “New Titles From Jeff Lemire, Matt Wagner, Grace Ellis, Joe Casey, More”).
