Mage: The Hero Denied, the long-awaited conclusion to Wagner’s epic Arthurian fantasy trilogy, will launch with issue #0 on July 12 at a special price of $1.99. Mage: The Hero Denied #1 will be in stores on August 16.
Drawn and written by Wagner, the trilogy launched in 1984 with Mage: The Hero Discovered. The second part, Mage: The Hero Defined, started running in 1997. Each part is made up of 15 issues and focuses on Kevin Matchstick, a modern day reluctant hero and reincarnation of King Arthur who wields Excalibur in the form of a magic baseball bat. Image revealed the continuation of the trilogy in March, during Emerald City Comic Con (see “New Titles From Jeff Lemire, Matt Wagner, Grace Ellis, Joe Casey, More”). Image is also releasing a new printing of Mage: The Hero Discovered on July 12.
