San Francisco Giants baseball star Hunter Pence and his wife Alexis, Comic Book Men star Ming Chen, David Buehrer of Greenway Coffee Company, and Sanford Bledsoe III, who owned The Espresso Bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan and worked at Vault of Midnight Comics, are joining together to open a new comics, games, and coffee store in Houston, Texas this fall.  Coral Sword:  Coffee, Comics & Games will open in September, the new company announced.

Product lines will include indie board games, a curated comic selection, and specialty coffees and teas (some food will also be served).  A special gaming bar will provide a place for industry leaders and game developers to teach their newest creations, and a membership-driven co-gaming space will allow more in-depth gaming and events, workshops, and tournaments.  A special podcast booth fully equipped to connect to a global audience will also be provided for guests interested in streaming or podcasting.

“Coffee and gaming are two of my favorite off-the-field activities,” Pence said.  "I'm most excited about creating a space that combines the two. Incorporating new media into the coffee shop is an exciting way for me to bring a piece of San Francisco to Houston that keeps me feeling connected.”
