Calliope Games is continuing its “Titans of Gaming” series with three new titles from big-name game designers, all scheduled to release this fall:  Eric M. Lang’s Ancestree, James Ernest’s Capital City, and Mike Elliott’s ShutterBug.

Ancestree is about building the best family tree.  Over three rounds, players draft tiles depicting ancestors that they can add to their lineage, by connecting leaves or hearts.  Points are awarded for creating connections between generations and for coin icons depicted on the tiles.

The 110 game tiles are illustrated by fan-favorite Larry Elmore and colored by Adelheid Zimmerman.  Ancestree also includes 6 scoreboards and 206 tokens.  The game is intended for 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $30.00.

Set in a version of the Old West populated by anthropomorphic characters illustrated by Brian Bowes, Capital City challenges players to build the most prosperous town possible.  Players bid for the right to hire workers that have just arrived by train, assigning them to operate their businesses to earn money and points.  But, each worker can provide bonuses to other players who hire members of the same family.

Capital City comes with 100 cards and 120 tokens.  Designed for 3 to 6 players, ages 8 and up, it plays in about 45 minutes.  MSRP is $20.00.

In ShutterBug, players explore 1930’s America hoping to catch a snapshot of some of the mysterious mythical creatures that many believe are living in the wilderness, illustrated by Char Reed.  Players must gather tips to learn the location of the creatures, then race to their location and capture them on film, while pursuing their “Secret Assignment” and completing side jobs.

This game includes 1 game board, 48 tiles, 126 cards, 26 markers and tokens, 6 pawns, and a bag.  ShutterBug can be played by 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and up, and takes about half an hour.  MSRP is $30.00.
