Bloys was speaking at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, and the local newspaper, The Morning Call, reported his comments on plans for the network’s flagship series. “I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens.” Bloys said. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”
He went on to cite popular shows, including Breaking Bad and The Sopranos which filmed multiple endings to keep everyone, including the stars, in the dark until the episode aired. Production for season eight is set to begin in October and run through August 2018, sources told THR. There are only six episodes planned for the final season, but special effects production may push the premiere into 2019.
The Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones set a ratings record in August (see “'Game of Thrones' Breaks Another Record”), and illegal downloads for the season topped 1 billion (see “'The Greatest American Hero,' 'The Boys,' 'Game of Thrones' Piracy, 'Titans' Casting”).
