Toys "R" Us was in a lot of trouble with its suppliers when it filed bankruptcy.  As we reported earlier, key toy and game maker Hasbro had suspended shipments to Toys "R" Us at one point during the turmoil surrounding its recent bankruptcy filing, but reached an agreement last week to resume shipments (see "Hasbro Reaches Agreement with Bankrupt Toys 'R' Us After Suspending Shipments").  It turns out that was just a small portion of the supplier problems Toys "R" Us was having; the company was on hold for 40% of its supply at the time of its filing (see "Toys 'R' Us Files Chapter 11"), its attorney told the court during a hearing in bankruptcy court on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.  While most vendors have resumed shipment, not all have reached agreements with the chain, according to the report.  While all of the vendors that supply the chain’s top 20 products are shipping, 49 of the suppliers of its top 50 are shipping, and 91 of the suppliers of its top 100 products have resumed shipping to the chain.

Meanwhile, Mattel reported yesterday, and cited the Toys R Us bankruptcy as one reason behind its disappointing results (North American sales down 22%!, worldwide sales down 13%).  Toys "R" Us isn’t Mattel’s only problem, though; Hasbro reported a 7% sales increase after the Toys R Us hit.
