In A’Writhe, players form teams of two. One player is the “cultist” and the other is the “Great Old One” that the cultist hopes to summon. To complete the ritual, the Great Old One must place its “appendages” on landmarks in Arkham as instructed by the cultist. The cultist hopes to contort their partner into the pattern on their card, but they’re not too particular: if another team’s Great Old One touches the landmarks on their pattern, the cultist can use their appendages as well.
A’Writhe: A Game of Eldritch Contortions is intended for 2 to 6 players in teams of two, ages 14 and up. It takes about half an hour to play. The game comes with 20 mats, pattern cards, and Great Old One roles. MSRP is $49.99.
The game will release about a month after WizKids new spy-themed card game Spy Tricks (see “Bluffing, Betting, Trickery Abound”).
