IDW Publishing is remastering Rick Veitch’s groundbreaking series for a new generation. IDW is releasing the expanded and recolored series in six issues starting in February.
Considered a classic deconstruction of the superhero genre, The One predates both Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s Watchmen and Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. Written during the peak of the cold war, the original series was released in 1985 by Marvel’s Epic imprint and collected by Veitch’s King Hell Press in 2003. The One pits the nuclear arsenals and superheroes of the U.S. and U.S.S.R. against each other, presumably ensuring world-wide annihilation but instead unleashing the cosmic potential of the human race.
