Next May, WizKids will release Doppelganger, combining elements of Werewolf-style social deduction games with a fantasy adventure card game.

In Doppelganger, the stated goal of the group is to seek out the three “Artifacts of Light” to accomplish their quest.  However, one or more of the players are secretly trying to sabotage their efforts.  The loyalty of each player is determined randomly at the beginning of the game using the loyalty cards.  The “doppelganger” players are trying to prevent the party from achieving their mission, without revealing their secret identity.

Each round, players secretly add item cards to the party’s pool and select dice to use against the next quest card.  Item cards and dice can be beneficial to the party’s efforts, or work against them.

The game comes with 107 cards, 5 dice, tokens and counters, and a dice bag.  It is intended for 4 to 8 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $24.99.

Doppelganger joins three other late spring 2018 releases from WizKids (see “‘Maiden’s Quest,’ ‘Curio,’ ‘Fungeon Party’”).
