The next two sourcebooks for the new edition of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 will release this month: the Codex Adeptus Astartes: Blood Angels and the Codex Adeptus Astartes: Dark Angels.
Each of the new books explores one of the iconic Space Marine Chapters that have long been an integral part of the Warhammer 40,000 setting. The books describe the history of the chapters and their current standing in the game world, as well as new game rules, Stratagems, Warlord Traits, and new units.
The Codex Adeptus Astartes: Blood Angels includes rules for the Terminator-clad Archangels, Cataphractii and Tartaros Terminator suits, new aircraft unit options, and specific Blood Angels Primaris Space Marine units. The Chapter will also be reinforced by a new Lieutenant Tolmeron model, and upgrade kits featuring Blood Angels iconography and equipment.
In the Codex Adeptus Astartes: Dark Angels, fans of that secretive group can learn more about the hunt for the "Fallen," including new rules for hunting those enemies of the Chapter on the battlefield, expanded options for the Deathwing and Ravenwing companies, and new psychic powers unique to the Dark Angels.
Games Workshop also announced that the first new Codex for 2018 will be Chaos Daemons.
The company recently released a book of rules updates and playing options called Chapter Approved 2017 (see "'Warhammer 40K' 'Battleforce' Boxed Sets Arrive for Holidays").
