Superstar comic writer Brian Michael Bendis has been discharged from Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, he told his followers on Twitter Tuesday. In his post celebrating his departure, he noted the harrowing circumstances of his stay: “16 days in the hospital, 2 visits to the ICU, MRSA, sepsis, blind for 4 days.”
Bendis was suffering from a life-threatening methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. He underwent surgery last Saturday, in which the surgeons “found the necrotic tissue that was going to do me in,” he posted.
Bendis is currently finishing up his work for Marvel and he prepares for a move to DC (see “Marvel’s Top Writer Signs with DC”).
