Marvel will incorporate comics into its newly launched property Marvel Rising, a multi-media franchise featuring a diverse teen superteam, beginning April  25.

Marvel announced the new IP in December, with plans for digital shorts and a full-length animated feature (see “Marvel to Launch New IP with Animation”). Now the kick-off comic issue, Marvel Rising #0, will be given away at comic stores in April. Retailers will receive free bundles (of 25 comics) based on their discount tier. Additional bundles may be purchased for $5.00 each using Diamond code FEB180862.

The first issue is written by Devin Grayson (Batman: Gotham Knights, Nightwing), with art by Marco Failla and a cover by Helen Chen. When Doreen Green (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) volunteers as head councilor at Computer Programming Camp, she has no idea that junior councilor Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) is also a secret superhero. Can they save the camp without blowing their secret identities? America, Inferno, and Patriot will also appear in the comic. The 32-page comic is Rated T.
