John Byrne’s legendary run on X-Men is getting an oversized artist’s edition from IDW Publishing.  John Byrne’s X-Men Artifact Edition features more than 100 pages of Byrne’s X-Men work with writer Chris Claremont and inker Terry Austin.  The artwork in the Artifact Edition is scanned from Byrne’s original pages, giving readers an up-close look at Byrne's creative process.  The 12" x 17" hardcover will be in stores in July.

Byrne began his run on The X-Men in 1977, with issue #108.  He worked on some of the most revered story arcs, including "Dark Phoenix Saga" and "Days of Future Past."  Byrne continued on the series until issue #143 and collaborated with Claremont on the story throughout much of his run.

IDW Publishing will also be releasing an Artifact Edition featuring the work of Jim Starlin in April (see "Jim Starlin's Cosmic Artifacts").
