Gail Simone is reteaming with artist Adriana Melo (Birds of Prey, Star Wars, Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica) on a six-issue miniseries about DC’s stretchiest superhero. Plastic Man will debut in June with a cover by Aaron Lopresti and variant by Amanda Conner.

Simone promises a comedic take on the costumed alter ego of petty thug and con artist Eel O’Brian, a Golden Age hero created by Jack Cole. “He’s like a stretchy Swamp Thing or the bouncy Batman; writing him is a goofy, snarky honor and I'm thrilled to be part of his rubber ribaldry,” she says, adding that her take is inspired by the Grant Morrison and Howard Porter version envisioned in their run on JLA.

Both Simone and Plastic Man has a busy year ahead. Simone is also busy working on a Red Sonja / Tarzan crossover for Dynamite (see “Red Sonja, Tarzan, And Sherlock Holmes Headline Upcoming Dynamite Releases”), and she has an ongoing about Domino on the horizon (see “Gail Simone's 'Domino' Effect”). In addition to the solo outing, Plastic Man is also joining Doom Patrol in one of the two DC Comics Dice Masters: Team Packs (see “'DC Comics Dice Masters: Justice Campaign Box'”).
