All profits from the publication, which features Wonder Woman and Puerto Rican superhero La Borinquena on the cover, will benefit relief efforts for the island, which was ravaged by Hurricane Maria six months ago. El Puente, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that will provide solar-powered lamps, clothing, food, and other supplies to Puerto Rico, is the beneficiary of the anthology.
The anthology includes work by comics creators Gail Simone, Denys Cowan, and Yanick Paquette, as well as stories by actors Rosario Dawson, Ruben Blades, and Sonia Manzano. Miranda-Rodriguez’s creation La Borinquena will fight alongside Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman in the collection.
Just last week, Lion Forge released their own benefit anthology, Puerto Rico Strong (see “'Puerto Rico Strong'”). The publisher is partnering with United Way of Puerto Rico to distribute the funds raised to the Early Childhood Relief program, which works to provide for children and families in the territory. Lion Forge will match $25,000 of the profits from the publication, and Diamond Comic Distributors has pledged to donate 5% of retail sales as well.
