The CW has announced which shows will be headed into new seasons, and most of the network’s comic book and geek shows have made the cut according to Variety.
Riverdale, which is based on characters from the Archie Comics universe, will be returning for a third season after seeing significant ratings gains over the course of its second season.
Freshman standout Black Lightning is headed for a second season (see "'Y: The Last Man' TV Series News, 'Black Lightning' Ratings, 'The Tick' Renewed, 'Umbrella Academy' Filming, 'Snowpiercer' Greenlit, Gillian Anderson Off Geek Shows"). CW is also renewing the shows set in the Arrowverse: Arrow (Season 7), Legends of Tomorrow (Season 4), The Flash (Season 5), and Supergirl (Season 4). Supernatural is also getting a 14th season.
Decisions on the renewal of iZombie and The 100 will be announced in May.
The popular CW geek series have inspired a number of merchandise and comic book spinoffs. Legends of Tomorrow is getting a set of trading cards from Cryptozoic (see "'DC's Legends Of Tomorrow' Trading Cards Set"), and Riverdale has inspired a new comics series (see "'Riverdale' Comic Series in the Works").
