C2E2 News -- Dynamite Entertainment has announced two new series and a hardcover collection in advance of C2E2.

Dynamite will launch Project Superpowers, a series from writer Rob Williams (Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn) and artist Sergio Davila (Injustice, Superman), with a specially priced issue #0 in July. For 10 cents, readers will be reintroduced to the Black Terror, the Death-Defying ‘Devil, Sampson, Masquerade, Green Lama, Scarab and other Golden Age superhero characters that were popularized in the 2008 series from creators Jim Krueger and Alex Ross, as well as artists Doug Klauba, Stephen Sadowski, and Carlos Paul. Francesco Mattina (Dark Nights: Metal), John Royle, Philip Tan, Sergio Davila, Ed Benes, and J.G. Jones provide covers for the issue. The Project Superpowers universe has spawned several spinoffs, including a series from Warren Ellis (see “Preview: 'Project Superpowers: Blackcross Collection' TP) and Ryan Browne (God Hates Astronauts) and Pete Woods (Robin, Deadpool) (see “Preview: 'Project Superpowers: Hero Killers' TP”).

Dynamite is partnering with Elvira: Mistress of the Dark on a new line of comic books from writer David Avallone (Bettie Page, Twilight Zone) and artist Dave Acosta (Doc Savage). In the series, which launches in July, Elvira takes a journey through horror history by crashing the weekend that spawned Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark #1 features covers by Joseph Michael Linsner (Dawn), J. Bone (Will Eisner’s The Spirit), Kyle Strahm (Spread), Craig Cermak (Red Team), and Robert Hack (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) with colors by Francesco Francavilla (Detective Comics), as well as a photo variant. This is the first release under the licensing deal between the publisher and the beloved horror icon currently portrayed by actress Cassandra Peterson (see “'Elvira,' 'Pumpkinhead,' 'Barbarella,' 'Hack/Slash,' More”).

Dynamite will collect Skin & Earth, the six-issue miniseries written and drawn by Canadian synth-pop musician Lights. The hardcover includes variant art from Jim Lee, Joby Harris, Derek Lewis, Gianna Rose, and Matt Mitchell, bonus content, and download codes for the Skin & Earth album, videos, and other material. The collection, which ships in July, will also have a dustjacket and introduction from Lights. In the story, Enaia Jin traverses a dystopian corporation-ruled world on a journey of self-discovery (see “Synth-Pop Star Lights Releasing Comic/Album Tie-In Project”).
