San Diego Comic-Con News: Warner Bros. released the first trailer for James Wan’s Aquaman to great applause at Hall H. In addition to outlining an origin story that morphs into a conflict between the undersea world and land dwellers, the Aquaman trailer includes, along with epic action scenes and hordes of CGI creations, a number of humorous asides that will likely lighten the tone of the epic struggle. In this way Aquaman appears to be similar to the lighthearted Shazam! (see “Shazam Trailer Promises Superhero Fun”)—and less dark than the first generation of DC films.
Aquaman is slated for release on December 21, the first major Warner Bros./DC film to unspool over the holidays (see “Best in Shows: Q4 2018”).
