ICv2 had an opportunity at Gen Con to learn about two new titles that Tasty Minstrel Games will release later this year: Jungli-La and Trade on the Tigris.
Jungli-La is a dice-based game about exploring exotic jungles, created by Hisashi Hayashi (Yokohama). Players roll dice not only to determine how their explorers move, but also to gather resources they need to reach the most valuable locations and all-important letters of endorsement that they need to earn sponsorships that will help them complete their jungle journey. Players must balance the need for resources and letters with the need for speed as they race the other explorers to the end of the jungle.
The game is intended for 2 to 5 players, ages 14 and up, and takes about 45 minutes to play. MSRP is $25.00.
Created by Ryan Sturm and Geoff Engelstein (Space Cadets), Trade on the Tigris is a civilization-building game set in ancient Mesopotamia. In the game, players trade cards in real time as they try to advance their society in terms of politics, religion, and culture. Players must be truthful about the point-awarding top part of their cards, but can deceive their trading partners about the bottom part, which can include cultural elements or invading barbarians.
Trade on the Tigris is for 3 to 6 players, ages 14 and up, and takes 60 to 90 minutes to play.
Earlier this year, Tasty Minstrel released Citrus and Pioneer Days (see “Tasty Minstrel Brings ‘Citrus’ to U.S.”).
