Funko, which opened its first store in its headquarter building in Everett, Washington about a year ago, is scouting locations for additional flagship-style stores in the top three markets in the U.S., according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. The new stores will be at least as large as the massive 17,000 square foot Everett facility (see "At Funko’s New Store, Retail’s Future Meets the Pop Culture Present" for a description and photo gallery), according to the report.
The new stores, like the original flagship, will focus on experience as much as sales, with an eye toward creating social media-friendly moments that can be shared. The goal is to open one to two locations by late 2019 or early 2020.
