IDW Games has shared new details on the Wayward Board Game based on Jim Zub and Steven Cummings’ comic series.

Plans for the game were announced in 2017 (see “'Wayward' Board Game Based on Comics”), while the game was still in development. The game is designed by Jonathan Gilmour (Dinosaur Island, Dead of Winter) and will feature new art by Cummings. The cooperative board game has players take the role of a teenager with new supernatural abilities. The players will navigate a highly thematic threat management system and face challenging scenarios that require them to take risks and hopefully develop more powerful abilities.  They must keep the Weave (hidden threads which guide destiny and power) from unraveling, and fight off the Yokai determined to stop them. The game is for 1 – 5 players.

The Wayward Board Game – Signature Edition will be funded via Kickstarter in February 2019. This edition will include upgraded packaging, miniatures, and a bonus character with scenario. IDW Games previously used this plan with its Legend of Korra board game (see “'The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena'”). Retail release and MSRP were not announced.
