White Wizard Games has announced expansions for its fantasy deck building game Hero Realms, including four Journeys expansion packs, the new Ancestry pack, and The Lost Village campaign set, all expected to release near the end of 2019. Retailers can sign up for the Journeys Kickstarter Pre-release Kit by backing the campaign at the $1 level.

The new expansion sets offer new ways for players to build their characters for both competitive and cooperative play versions of Hero Realms, as well as new opportunities for players to pursue and foes to confront.

The four Journeys expansions are packaged in booster pack-style sleeves.  The Hunters and Travelers packs each come with 12 new cards for players to add to their market deck, while the Conquest and Discovery packs each offer six new quest cards that players can complete to earn the new relic cards also included in the pack.  All four Journeys expansions are MSRP $4.99.

The larger Ancestry pack includes 20 cards that players can use to add a fantasy race background to their character, with dwarf, elf, ogre, orc, and smallfolk available.  A character’s race can be used on its own or combined with cards from the previously-released character packs (see “‘Hero Realms’ Comes to Trade”).  MSRP is $9.99.

Rounding out the new expansions is The Lost Village boxed set, which picks up the storyline from The Ruin of Thandar campaign set, allowing players to work together to play the game as an on-going campaign.  This set includes more than 100 new cards, 12 oversized master cards, and a full-color adventure book.  MSRP is $19.99.

White Wizard is raising funds for the production of the new expansions through a Kickstarter campaign that has attracted $181,392 in pledged support from 3,350 backers (an average of $54.15 per backer) with 22 days remaining.  Backer fulfillment is scheduled for December 2019, with release into the trade to follow.

Similar to the company’s Star Realms Kickstarter last year (see “White Wizard Enlists Retailers for New ‘Star Realms’ Release”), the company is offering retailers who support the campaign with a $1.00 pledge access to a special Prerelease Kit that will include all Kickstarer-exclusive stretch goals and rewards.  The program is open only to brick-and-mortar stores, who will be able to order Prerelease Kits at a 50% discount after the campaign concludes.
