Just in time for Free Comic Book Day, DC Comics will release a 25-cent special centered on some of the publisher’s most infamous vallains. DC’s Year of the Villain will be on sale for one shiny quarter on May 1, just days before FCBD on May 4 (see “FCBD 2019 Gold Sponsor Comics”).
DC’s Year of the Villain features original stories by Scott Snyder (Justice League), James Tynion IV (Justice League Dark), and Brian Michael Bendis (Superman, Action Comics), alongside art by Alex Maleev (Scarlet), Jim Cheung (Justice League), and Francis Manapul (The Flash). Greg Capullo provides the main cover, with variants by Cheung, Maleev, and Stanley “Artgerm” Lau. Lex Luthor, the Batman Who Laughs, Bane, and more will appear in stories that continue ongoing arcs or impact the action to come in the DC universe.
