Laurence King Publishing has announced the May 14, 2019 publication of Basquiat: A Graphic Novel, a non-fiction chronicle of the life the American painter Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose meteoric rise from homeless teenage graffiti artist to a painter selling his canvases for $25K within just a few years was the stuff of legends, and whose death at the age of 27 caused many to compare his impact on the New York art scene to Jimi Hendrix’s effect on rock ‘n roll.

Basquiat: A Graphic Novel was written and drawn by Italian artist Paolo Parisi, who has created graphic novel biographies of Billie Holiday and John Coltrane.  The 128-page Basquiat: A Graphic Novel will have a cover price of $19.99.
