Creator Brandon Dixon will bring African mythology to tabletop roleplaying with Swordsfall: An Afropunk Sci Fantasy RPG. The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

Set in a fantasy world called Tikor, Swordsfall draws inspiration from pre-Colonial African gods and creation myths. An uneasy truce exists between two rival nations following a bloody war precipitated by the assassination of a patron god. God-slaying weapons have begun surfacing, and the world of Tikor is on the brink of destruction. Artwork from the Kickstarter suggests a mix of modern, futuristic, and medieval technology.

Dixon intends to support the RPG with fiction as well. An African-American with freelance game design credits, he sought games that featured people who looked like him. With few choices available, he elected to develop his own.

The Kickstarter has raised nearly $70,000 from 1,220 backers. It funded in less than an hour and far exceeded its $2000 goal. Fulfillment to backers is scheduled for March of 2020, with a trade release to follow. Two retail backer levels are available. The Kickstarter runs through April 10.
