This July, Marvel Comics will be launching a deep look into the past of the matriarch of Marvel’s First Family with Invisible Woman. Executive Editor Tom Brevoort teased, “In over 50 years, she’s never had her own title (or maybe she did and you just didn’t see it).”

The five-issue miniseries is written by Mark Said (Avengers, Daredevil), with art by Mattia De Iulis (Jessica Jones), and features covers by Adam Hughes (Star Wars).

After becoming part of the Fantastic Four many years ago, the Invisible Woman took on her own adventures. One was an espionage mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. Now, years later, Sue has to rescue her former partner before it’s too late.

The Invisible Woman debuted alongside the rest of her famous family in Fantastic Four #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961. She and the rest of the Fantastic Four have gone onto star in multiple comic series, animated adventures and three theatrical films in which she was portrayed by Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) and Kate Mara (Fantastic Four 2015). The Fantastic Four returned to their comic book home this past August after a lengthy absence (see “‘Fantastic Four’ Return to Comics”).
