Into this era of swirling political scandals, Capstone Games is injecting a new way to explore the ultimate Washington scandal with its upcoming game Watergate, which will debut at Gen Con this summer.

Created by Matthias Cramer (Lancaster, Glen More), Watergate pits one player acting as a journalist in the Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein mold against an opponent who manages the efforts of the Richard Nixon White House to cover up the June 1972 break-in at the Watergate building.  Each player has their own separate deck of cards that they use to take actions during the game.  The journalist player tries to link evidence of the crime and its perpetrators to the Nixon administration while the White House player tries to suppress the evidence long enough to win reelection for the president.

The game doubles as a historic reference for the Watergate scandal, including historical notes about the incident and details about the game cards, which are based on events from the scandal’s history.

Watergate features artwork by Klemens Franz (Agricola, Orleans) and Alfred Vicktor Schulz.  The game is intended for two players, ages 12 and up, and takes a little less than an hour to play.  MSRP is $34.95.

Capstone will release Pipeline on June 15 (see "Perfect Oil Refining in ‘Pipeline’"), followed by Irish Guage in July (see "Capstone Games Launches Iron Rail Series with ‘Irish Guage’").
