Sleeping Beauties is a dark fantasy set in a world where a pandemic puts all women in a sort of somnolent coma, and with males in complete control society is heading pell-mell towards Hobbesian barbarism. This fantasy explores gender dynamics in extremis: women, when their “sleep” is disturbed, react in a violent, feral fashion that adds to the dystopian horror of this high concept saga.
In addition to the IDW comic book adaptation, Anonymous Content, the Hollywood company behind True Detective, Mr. Robot, The Alienist and many other TV productions, has acquired TV rights to the Sleeping Beauties novel.
