Two Marvel comics announcements emerged from D23: a new event title for December, and a special satellite and streaming radio channel tied to Marvel’s 80th anniversary.
The event comic is Incoming, a one-shot to be released in December. Contents info was limited. The one-shot "will shape the future of Marvel Comics into 2020 and beyond," and it’s tied to "a single moment in the pages of the Dark Phoenix saga."
Marvel is joining with SiriusXM and Pandora to launch an exclusive music station and limited-time channel, Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics #1000, on Thursday, August 29. The station, hosted by Mike Rubens (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee), will present music for the eighty years of Marvel’s history, beginning with 1939, the year the first Marvel comic was published. Rubens will tie the music to the real-life history and events in the Marvel universe of the times.
The launch is tied to the release of Marvel Comics #1000 on August 28, which is also coupled with in-store, in-game, and convention activations (see "Marvel Plans In-Store, In-Game, Convention Activations for 80th").
