The jury has selected its Spiel des Jahres 2019 winners:  Just One for the “Game of the Year” award, and Wingspan for the “Enthusiast Game of the Year” award (Kennerspiel des Jahres) under its German language title, Flugelschlag.

Repos Production’s Just One, created by Ludovic Roudy and Bruno Sautter, is a cooperative game in which one player must guess a concept using clues offered simultaneously by the other players, after removing any duplicated clues.

Wingspan, the game of competitive bird collecting by Elizabeth Hargrave, was published by Stonemaier Games in the U.S. and Feuerland in Germany (see “Stonemaier Broadens its ‘Wingspan’”).

Announced earlier, the Kinderspiel des Jahres (“Children’s game of the Year”) was awarded to HABA’s Tal der Wikinger (see “‘Tal der Wikinger’ Secures Kinderspiel des Jahres”).

The jury nominated three games for each category.  See them here:  “‘Spiel des Jahres’ Jury Announces 2019 Nominees.”
