The third game in Michael Kiesling’s Azul series, entitled Azul:  Summer Pavilion will release in December.

Like other titles in the series, Azul:  Summer Pavilion challenges players to construct patterns using tiles they acquire through the game’s drafting mechanic, this time to decorate King Manual’s Summer Pavilion, built to honor Portugal’s royal family.  This iteration on the theme features elongated diamond-shaped tiles and new scoring mechanisms based around collecting sets and building patterns.

Azul:  Summer Pavilion was designed by Azul creator Michael Kiesling and features illustrations by Chris Quilliams, who also worked on the original game. The game is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, and takes a little over half an hour to play.  MSRP is $39.99.

The Spiel des Jahres-winning Azul continues to be a strong seller two years after its release, ranking sixth on ICv2’s list of top board games last spring (see “Top 10 Hobby Channel Board Games--Spring 2019”).  The second game in the series, Azul:  Stained Glass of Sintra, released last year (see "'Azul:  Stained Glass of Sintra'").
