Dark Horse Comics will launch a line of middle-grade hardcover graphic novels re-telling the stories of Pixar and Disney films in December and continuing through 2020.  Each 6" x 9" volume will carry the film’s name and "The Story of the Movie in Comics."

The first volume, Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story: The Story of the Movies in Comics, will be released to the comic store channel on December 4 and to the book channel on December 17.  It will adapt the stories of all four movies in a 224-page hardcover priced at $19.99.

Other planned volumes include:

  • Disney Cinderella: The Story of the Movie in Comics, 48 pages @ $10.99, February.
  • Disney/Pixar Onward: The Story of the Movie in Comics, $10.99, February/March

A line of licensed books with the same title (The Story of the Movie in Comics) was begun by Joe Books, but ended when the company went out of business and filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.  Joe Books specialized in graphic novels using art from the movies; Dark Horse has not identified art credits for its volumes.
