Asmodee Group has acquired family game publisher Libellud, the companies announced today. Libellud is the publisher of Spiel Des Jahres winner Dixit (see "’Dixit’ Wins 2010 Spiel Des Jahres"), Mysterium, Seasons, Obscurio and others, 24 games and 15 extensions in all. Asmodee has been distributing Libellud games in many territories since the company’s founding in 2008.
Libellud founder Regis Bonnessee is leaving the company "to develop other entrepreneurial projects," while Mathiew Aubert, who’s been with the company since its founding, will take over the helm. Libellud has 19 employees.
"We are delighted to welcome Libellud into the Group," Asmodee CEO Stephane Carville said of the latest acquisition. "Since its creation, Libellud has continuously demonstrated its great talent as publisher of a distinctive catalogue merging innovative rules and unique graphic designs."
Asmodee, which has been rolling up companies for over a decade, has 18 publishing studios worldwide and operates in 18 countries on four continents.
