Genius Brands has licensed Archie Comics to publish comics based on the properties of Stan Lee Universe, the joint venture between Genius and Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment. The first title under the new agreement will be Superhero Kindergarten, based on the upcoming animated series for Amazon Prime starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Archie’s unique distribution footprint was clearly a factor in the deal. "Archie Comics are everywhere," Genius Brands Chairman and CEO Andy Heyward said. "You can’t go to a supermarket checkout stand and not see them, and soon that will be the same with Stan Lee Universe."
Genius’s new joint venture with POW!, which Genius controls and which will control in perpetuity the post-Marvel IP of Lee, was announced earlier this month after a lawsuit against POW! by Lee’s daughter was dismissed (see "Genius Brands Acquires Control of Stan Lee IP").
Genius also announced that Batman movie executive producer Michael E. Uslan will guide the film and TV development of the Stan Lee Universe.
