IDW has announced a new middle-grade comic, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures, by writer Daniel José Older, artist Harvey Tolibao, and colorist Rebecca Nalty. The first issue is scheduled for February 3, 2021, and will have a main cover by Tolibao, and a Retailer Incentive edition featuring art by Yael Nathan.

The series ties in with the Star Wars: The High Republic publishing campaign, which will comprise of novels and comics for a variety of audiences (see “‘Star Wars: The High Republic’ Campaign Coming in 2020”). Current plans include five novels and a Marvel series, Star Wars: The High Republic, written by Cavan Scott, which will debut in January 2021. Originally dubbed “Project Luminous,” the High Republic project consists of original stories set in an era 200 years before the film Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, at the height of the Galactic Order. Originally scheduled to launch in August 2020, the project was delayed by the COVID-19 epidemic, and the novels and comics will now begin to roll out in January 2021.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures follows a group of young Padawan, disciples of Master Yoda, as they fight against a new enemy, the Nihil, and learn the lessons they need to become Jedi.
