Writer Paul Tobin and artist Andrea Mutti will collaborate on a new horror series, Bunny Mask, to be published by AfterShock Comics.  The title character is an ancient supernatural creature who has been sealed in a cage for millennia and is released in modern times.  The man who released her must figure out her secrets in order to save himself and his sanity.

The first issue will be published on June 9 with an MSRP of $4.99 for the 32-page comic.  In addition to the regular cover by Mutti, Aftershock will offer a Bunny Mask mask variant, also by Mutti, and an incentive cover by Charlie Adlard.

This is Tobin’s first comic for AfterShock; he is the writer of Colder and the dark fantasy series The Witcher, both published by Dark Horse Comics.  Colder was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Limited Series and was a finalist for the Bram Stoker Award for Best Graphic Novel, both in 2014.  Like Colder, Bunny Mask will have a mix of overt horror and the more subtle, internal horror that stems from encountering an uncontrollable and mysterious other.

Mutti, who is both the colorist and the artist for Bunny Mask, is an Italian artist whose most recent work includes Maniac of New York and Dark Interlude; he has done work for DC Comics and Marvel Comics, including DC’s original graphic novel Six Days: The Incredible True Story of D-Day’s Lost Chapter (see “DC Vertigo Fights the Battle of Graignes in New OGN”).
