Chris Keane has joined TCGplayer as Chief Product Officer, in charge of product development and strategy, the company announced. Plans on TCGplayer’s roadmap for 2021 include ramping POS integration efforts (see "TCGplayer Puts POS Plug-In Into Beta"), expanding fulfillment capacity, and optimizing the marketplace for new verticals such as sports cards and comics.
Keane has been working with TCGplayer since December in a consulting role. Keane has had a number of product roles at tech companies, including Chief Product Officer at OpenSky, and Director of North America B2B at Alibaba Group, which acquired OpenSky in 2017.
"Chris is a natural fit for TCGplayer," TCGplayer CEO Chedy Hampson said of the hire. "He has embraced our culture and has a demonstrated track record of navigating the type of growth and scale we’re experiencing across the Company… Chris has made a tangible impact and positive impression on all those who have had the pleasure to work with him over the last few months."
This is the second addition to the C-suite in recent months; the company added a CMO in January (see "TCGPlayer Adds CMO"). TCGplayer reports year-to-date sales increases of 90% over the same (pre-Covid) period in 2021.
