Dynamite Entertainment announced Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, a new ongoing series, for release in November 2021.

Sheena, one of jungle comics' most beloved heroines, is back with a new series written by Stephen Mooney, who recently worked on the new Bettie Page series (see "'Bettie Page: Curse of The Banshee' #1"). This iconic character, created by Will Eisner and Jerry Iger, debuted from Joshua B. Power's British magazine Wags #46 in January 1938, and later, made her first U.S. comics appearance in Jumbo Comics #1 in September of the same year. Since then, Sheena has been in and out of pop culture with various comics, pulps, and movies (see "'Sheena, Queen of the Jungle' Returns to Silver Screen"). Dynamite picked up Sheena in 2017 (see " Preview: 'Sheena' #0 (Plus #1 Covers)"), and made a series which lasted 10 issues.

In this new series, Sheena aids a conglomerate in an effort to rebuilds its image by opening a habitat for endangered plants and animals. The facility contains a research center as well as a resort called the Bio-Dome. On the eve of the grand opening, chaos occurs and Sheena ends up trapped in the habitat with no way to communicate with staff and the park visitors. Inside, she battles deadly creature like nothing she had ever encountered before.

It’s up to us newbies to add something perhaps a little more contemporary, without robbing Sheena of any of the elements that already made her great," said writer Stephen Mooney about the new series.

Sheena: Queen of the Jungle #1 showcases artwork by  Jethro Morales and coloring Dinei Ribero. The first issue will feature covers by Lucio Parrillo, Rose Besch, Arthur Suydam, Joseph Michael Linsner, Carla Cohen, Stephen Mooney, Lesley "Leirix" Li, and a cosplay cover by Rachel Hollon. This book is rated for Teen+ and will retail for $3.99.
