The comics publisher Zenescope has joined up with the Linden Lab property Second Life to create a “Zenescope Metaverse” within the game.

Characters in the Zenescope Metaverse include the title character of Cinderella: Serial Killer Princess (also known as Cindy) as well as Belle: The Beast Hunter, the Mad Hatter, and Jabberwocky. Users can choose to play as the characters or interact with them in a number of different scenarios and storylines, and multiple costumes and avatars are available. Settings from the comics include Rockman’s Ice Cream Shop (from Belle’s comics) and a playable Goblin Golf course. There’s also a “clandestine quest” as well as other surprises, as well as more than 50 virtual collectibles and other items.

According to the announcement made today, Second Life has 70 million registered users and is the longest-running metaverse platform on the internet. The announcement also states that Zenescope’s female-driven stories make it a good match for Second Life, stating, “Crossover similarities between the two fan bases not only include a demographic that skews toward mature females but plays to a strong interest in fantasy narratives.” Zenescope plans to continue working with Linden Lab to add more content in the future.
