Image Comics is building a superhero universe based on creator-owned properties, with two new series joining writer Kyle Higgins and artist Marcelo Costa’s Radiant Black next year.

The title character in Radiant Black is a beleaguered 30-year-old who suddenly unlocks a superpower that doesn’t actually belong to him.  Image bills the story as “Power Rangers meets Invincible” (see “Preview: ‘Radiant Black’ #1”).

Radiant Black will meet two new superheroes, Rogue Sun and Inferno Girl Red, in the crossover Supermassive: Rogue Sun and Inferno Girl Red.  Both characters will then get their own Image series.  Rogue Sun #1, by Power Rangers writer Ryan Parrott and artists Abel and Chris O’Halloran, will launch two weeks later, while Inferno Girl Red, by Mat Groom and Erica D’Urso, will join the Image catalog later next year.  That property started as a graphic novel on Kickstarter.

The Supermassive one-shot, which is scheduled for February 2, 2022, is written by Higgins, Parrott and Groom, with art by Francesco Manna and colorist Igor Monti.  The crossover will have a main cover by Manna and Monti, a variant cover by Costa, Abel, and D’Urso, and two incentive covers, 1:25 and 1:50.

Rogue Sun #1 will be out on February 16 and will have a main cover by Declan Shalvey, a variant cover by Goni Montes, a 1:10 incentive by Abel, a 1:25 incentive by Daniele Di Nicuolo, and a 1:50 incentive by Booth.
