Genis-Vell will star in a new five-issue series of his own, Marvel announced today at ComicsPro. Like his father Mar-Vell, Genis-Vell was Captain Marvel for a time; later, he joined the Thunderbolts and was killed in Thunderbolts #100. Brought back to life in Kelly Thompson’s recent Captain Marvel story arc, “The Last of the Marvels,” Genis-Vell reunites with his old partner, Rick Jones, and they have to work together before they fade away again.

Peter David, who wrote part of Genis-Vell’s saga when he was Captain Marvel, returns to write the limited series Genis-Vell, working with Darkhawk artist Juanan Ramirez. “I never thought I'd have the opportunity to return to Genis, what with him being dead and all. But apparently death never lasts...which is actually one of the themes of the limited series I came up with,” David said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “It's great to be back with Genis, Rick, Marlo and the whole Genis-Vell gang.” The series will launch in June with a main cover by Mike McKone and variant covers by Dan Jurgens, Peach Momoko, and Juni Ba.

Also at ComicsPRO, Marvel unveiled the newest Black Cat limited series, Iron Cat, by Black Cat writer Jed MacKay and artist Pere Perez. The Iron Cat armor first appeared in Black Cat #11, when Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat, was wearing it. She later handed it back to Tony Stark, so when the suit reappears, the question is not only who is inside but what do they plan to do.

"Curiosity may have killed the cat, but as always, satisfaction brings it back. It was with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to the ongoing Black Cat series last year, but now what would have been the next arc in that series lives on in its own right—Iron Cat!” MacKay said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “The fan-favorite Iron Cat armor returns... but who's in it this time? It certainly isn't Felicia Hardy, as the Iron Cat comes gunning for her right off the bat. It's a rare pleasure to have a second chance to pick up a story that you thought lost, and I'm really excited for people to rejoin Pere and I on another Black Cat adventure!"

The five-issue limited series will launch in June, and the first issue will have a cover by Perez and variant covers by Skan and Ron Lim and an action-figure variant by John-Tyler Christopher.
