Gale Force Nine has announced its next board game based on the science fiction classic DuneArrakis:  Dawn of the Fremen, produced under license from Legendary, will launch in July.

Arrakis:  Dawn of the Fremen is a competitive game about the conflicts between tribes of Fremen on the planet Arrakis, set a hundred generations before the events depicted in Frank Herbert’s novel.  Each player controls their own tribe, and must build up their military forces while securing the resources they need to survive the hostile world.  The famous sandworms can even be harnessed as weapons of war in the struggles between the tribes.

The game was created by the team behind Gale Force Nine’s earlier Dune titles:  Peter Olotka, Jack Kittredge, Bill Eberle, Greg Olotka, and Jack Reda.  It will include 1 game board, 1 phase tracker, 2 dice, 28 cards, and 401 tokens.  Arrakis:  Dawn of the Fremen is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 14 and up.  Games take a little over an hour to play.  MSRP is $60.00.

The new title joins Gale Force Nine’s earlier Dune-inspired games, Dune:  Betrayal (see “Gale Force Nine Announces ‘Dune:  Betrayal’”) and Dune:  A Game of Conquest, Diplomacy & Betrayal, which will soon receive its second expansion set (see “Gale Force Nine Announces ‘Dune:  A Game of Conquest, Diplomacy & Betrayal’ House Expansion”).
