One-Star Squadron writer Mark Russell and Eisner Award-winning artist Mike Allred will offer an alternate take on the Superman story in Superman: Space Age, a three-issue, prestige format miniseries that will launch in July. The story follows Superman through the decades, starting when he is a young man picking up the superhero mantle for the first time to stave off the end of the world. The series follows him through the decades, as he faces each new threat uncertain that he can overcome it, or that his actions won’t have unintended consequences. The series will kick off with an 80-page issue, available on July 26, with an MSRP of $9.99. The main cover will be by Allred, with a variant by Steve Rude, a 1:25 variant by Nick Derington, and a 1:50 variant by Allred.

“This is a dream project for me,” said Russell, in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Not only because I get to work with a genius like Mike Allred, but because I've always found Superman such a philosophically fascinating character, one which forces us to ask how different would the world be if we chose to be our best selves?"
