In Platypus, a Guide (active player) gives clues that form adjectives which define the Platypus to Explorers (the team players) so that they can guess a noun on a card. They choose the adjectives from eight common or proper names on the Platypus cards that are face up in front of all the players. Explorers gradually eliminate one or two names on the face-up cards as clues are parsed out until there is a visible card matching a target name. The game ends when the team succeeds a fourth time in matching or when the team eliminates the Platypus.
The game box comes with 278 cards, nouns and adjectives, a board, 2 Explorer tokens, and a rulebook. This game is for two to eight players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 30 minutes. It will retail for $24.99.
Asmodee will also release The Magnificent: SNO, a new board game expansion from Matagot and Aporta Games, into U.S. retail (see "'The Magnificent: SNO' Expansion").
