Marvel Comics will launch omnibus-format collections of comics featuring its original Captain Marvel comics, starring Mar-Vell as Captain Marvel, with Captain Mar-Vell Omnibus Vol. 1, on January 3, 2023. The collection begins with the very first comic featuring the character, Marvel Super-Heroes (1967) #12 by Stan Lee and Gene Colan, and follows with Marvel Super-Heroes #13, Captain Marvel (1968) #1-33, Iron Man (1968) #55 (in which Thanos makes his first appearance), and material from Not Brand Echh #9.
The collection includes stories written by Roy Thomas, Arnold Drake and Jim Starlin, with Stan Lee, Mike Friedrich, Gary Friedrich, Archie Goodwin, Gerry Conway, Marv Wolfman, and Steve Englehart. Pencillers include Colan, Don Heck, Gil Kane and Jim Starlin with Dick Ayers, Frank Springer, Tom Sutton, John Buscema, and Wayne Boring.
The package will be an 888-page hardcover for $100 MSRP. The book channel edition will carry a Gil Kane cover; the direct market exclusive will have a cover by Gene Colan.
