IDW will launch a new flagship Star Trek comics series that will draw together characters from all the different eras of the show and all the corners of its universe to unite them in a single mission: To prevent the murder of the gods. The series will be written by Colin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, the creative team behind Star Trek: Year Five, with art by Star Wars and Ant-Man artist Ramon Rosanas. The first issue will be available in October with eight variant covers by an array of artists including Rosanas, Declan Shalvey, David Aja, and Rachael Stott, as well as three retailer incentive covers by Rosanas and Franco Francavilla.

IDW’s Star Trek #400, an anthology issue due out in September, will include a prelude story to the new series.

Star Trek #1 opens in stardate 2378 with Benjamin Sisko aboard the U.S.S. Theseus, with a crew that hails from every part of the Star Trek multiverse, on a mission to stop the murders. “We’re immeasurably thrilled to launch a new starship with a crew of new and familiar faces heading on a mission that will truly go where no one has gone before—an Avengers-style ongoing crossover that treats Gene Roddenberry’s creation as a living universe,” said Lanzing in a statement accompanying the announcement. “This is a book where anyone can show up and where anything is possible.”
